Clarksons Return to Fort Clark Springs

by Annabell McNew

Jack and Tess Clarkson recently delighted residents with a pop-up concert at the Creekside Clubhouse, exciting a crowd that gathered with only hours’ notice. The Clarksons, who once played regularly at Fort Clark Springs, had not performed there in a couple of years, making their surprise return a welcome one—even for those who could only enjoy the thought of it via Facebook. Because the concert was announced shortly before it began, the patio crowd had plenty of room to dance, though several residents commented afterward that they wished they had known sooner. One longtime fan recalled never missing a Clarkson performance and always sharing a dance with her husband when they played, while another asked that the duo return as a regular fixture once again.
The Clarksons said they were deeply moved by the sentiments shared and expressed their hope to return to Fort Clark Springs soon—and often. Originally from Michigan, the retired physicians now live in Uvalde and spend much of their time performing music, something they say allows them to combine their love of music with connecting with people in meaningful ways.
In addition to live performances, Jack and Tess are preparing for the Clarkson Music Annual Family Reunion Cruise, set for March 1–8 aboard the new MSC Seascape, a billion-dollar cruise ship making its North American debut. The group cruise will feature three onboard performances, and the Clarksons say a few cabins are still available. When they return from the cruise, local residents won’t have to wait long to see them again. The Jack and Tess Clarkson Band is scheduled to perform at Fort Clark Springs on Saturday, March 14. Additional details will be announced soon, but residents are encouraged to save the date in anticipation of what many hope will be the first of many future appearances.
