Joe Ulrich Announces Candidacy for Fort Clark Springs Association Board of Directors
Joe Ulrich has announced his candidacy for the Fort Clark Springs Association (FCSA) Board of Directors, citing a strong commitment to the community, historic preservation, and decades of professional experience in facilities operations and maintenance.
Ulrich and his wife, Veronica, chose Fort Clark Springs as their retirement home after considering several locations. He said the decision came naturally after exploring the area and being drawn to its charm, history, and welcoming atmosphere. Since moving to Fort Clark Springs, Ulrich has been actively involved in the community. His efforts include maintaining landscaping at key locations, assisting with facility remodels and restoration of historic buildings including the Adult Center and Dickman Hall, and regularly attending board and community meetings. He has also volunteered time to support projects such as landscaping at the Dog Park and Solitary Confinement Tower. Ulrich is seeking election to the Fort Clark Springs Association Board of Directors to represent lot owners and help preserve the community’s unique historical assets—without a personal agenda. His goal is to protect Fort Clark Springs’ history, restore benefits for residents, and promote the area as a desirable place to live.
A central strength Ulrich brings to his candidacy is his decades of professional experience in operations, maintenance, and facilities management. He began his career in mechanical systems, plumbing, and equipment repair before entering commercial real estate property management in 1986. He has managed facilities ranging from 400,000 to 1.2 million square feet, oversaw multi-million-dollar operating budgets, and developed capital budgets with individual projects exceeding $1 million. He has supervised teams of up to 185 employees. Ulrich has also worked in educational facilities management, including serving as General Manager of Janitorial Services at Oklahoma State University, where he oversaw 8.5 million square feet of academic, residential, and athletic facilities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology and has experience managing construction projects, bid processes, and computerized maintenance systems.
Ulrich said his approach to leadership emphasizes collaboration, respect for differing viewpoints, and practical problem-solving. He believes these skills are essential as Fort Clark Springs addresses ongoing operational and infrastructure challenges. If elected, Ulrich said his goals include improving member services, addressing road conditions, upgrading and restoring historic buildings, bringing the Adult Center back into active use, developing a comprehensive capital budget plan for historical restoration and repair, and strengthening accountability within operations and maintenance.
Joe is a full time resident, and says he understands the daily challenges and opportunities within the community. “I am running for a seat on the FCSA Board of Directors because I believe my extensive experience in operations and maintenance will allow me to make informed decisions in the best interest of Fort Clark Springs,” Ulrich said.
