Bee Stone Celebrates 100th Birthday with Family and Friends

by Annabell McNew

Bee Stone celebrated a remarkable milestone on Saturday, November 29, gathering with a room full of family and friends to honor his 100th birthday. Laughter, stories, and several generations filled the space—each one a living testament to the beautiful life that Bee and his wife, Nancy, have built over the decades.
A proud World War II Navy veteran, Bee was honored with a beautifully decorated cake bearing an anchor and the name of his ship, the USS Altamaha, thoughtfully planned by Nancy for the occasion.
Before the traditional cake cutting and a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday,” Bee’s sons opened a round of speeches from family and friends. They shared stories of lessons learned from their father—everything from fishing to the humorous consequences of whiskey. Each memory highlighted Bee’s influence, wisdom, and the steady guidance he has provided for generations.
Bee’s grandson thanked him for the example he sets, calling Bee a proud representative of the “greatest generation” and a model of American values. He described his admiration for his grandfather’s commitment to carrying himself with dignity—always dressed neatly, standing straight, and looking people in the eye—a presence that sets a tone of respect for himself and others.
Bee's granddaughter reminisced about summers spent at the Fort, recalling how Bee filled her childhood with adventure, curiosity, and the simple thrill of being outdoors together. Friends also joined in, sharing memories of lively trips across the border to Acuña, Bee’s impressive waltz, and his enduring love for golf. Many spoke about his willingness to lend a helping hand, reflecting the generosity and kindness that have defined his life.
As the stories flowed, one theme became clear: Bee Stone’s century of life has been full—rich with service, family, friendship, and joy. And judging by his sharp wit, warm smile, and the crowd gathered to celebrate him, it’s clear that Bee has plenty of good years still ahead.
