St. Andrew’s Church Bell Rings Daily

by Carolyn Conoly

Have you heard the church bell ringing? Seven chimes rang at 5pm on September 14, and the same seven chimes have been ringing every day since. A historic tradition and practice of daily bell ringing has now begun. In addition to the daily chimes at 5pm, the bell will ring at 11am on Sundays, signaling the call to worship.
Seven is a significant number in the Bible. Seven is often associated with completion of diving perfection. A church may also ring a bell seven times to mark the end of a day; a call to prayer or to remind believers to give thanks for their faith. Some bells are also run seven times for military veterans to honor the states of their life of service. St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Brackettville welcomes the community to join in worship on Sunday mornings at 11am, at the corner of Fort St. and Henderson. Watch for more information coming soon about a special bell ringing celebrating All Saints Day on Saturday, November 1st.  For more info, contact MaryAnn Sanderson at 806-789-0660
