COMMUNITY RALLIES FOR DEPUTY OLIVARES AFTER FLOOD DEVASTATION
Just weeks after being recognized with an Official Commendation for Life Saving, Kinney County Deputy Carlos Olivares now finds himself on the receiving end of the community’s support. Recently honored along- side his family for his selfless service, Olivares is now facing significant loss after recent flooding devastated his home in Quemado, Texas. Mandatory evacuations were ordered, and the Olivares family’s home sustained extensive water damage—requiring major repairs including sheetrock and insulation replacement. The family also lost nearly all of their essential appliances and furnishings, including children’s beds and a baby crib.
Despite his own hardship, Carlos has continued to assist others affected by the flood, demonstrating the same selflessness that has long defined his service. To help alleviate the financial burden, colleague and friend Chastity Lane Martinez launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the Olivares family’s recovery. Community members are encouraged to contribute what they can to help one of Kinney County’s finest rebuild. The link to the donation platform is below.
