GREEN RIBBONS OF REMEMBRANCE APPEAR IN FORT CLARK SPRINGS

A quiet but powerful gesture is taking root in Fort Clark Springs, as green ribbons begin to appear in the community—part of a broader movement seen across neighborhoods in Texas. The ribbons were first tied in honor of the campers, counselors, and director of Camp Mystic who tragically lost their lives or remain missing in the recent Hill Coun- try floods. Now, they serve as a symbol of support for all flood victims, as over 100 people have died and nearly 100 remain missing since the Fourth of July flood in Kerr County. Green, Camp Mystic’s color, can also represent safety, renewal, and tranquility—fitting for a gesture meant to offer hope and remembrance. In Fort Clark Springs, a green ribbon has been spotted tied to a tree in front of one of the historic offi- cer’s quarters on Colony Row, standing as a quiet message of compas- sion. The growing display reflects a community keeping those affected by the tragedy in their hearts.
A healthy Kinney County requires great community news.
