Fort Clark Days 2025
Fort Clark Days 2025 brought another year of successful school visits, living history, and family fun, as approximately 1200 people entered the gates of Historic Fort Clark for the long-standing living history event. Students came from as far as Nueces Canyon CISD, joining Brackettville, Uvalde, Del Rio and Eagle Pass schools including Brackett ISD grades 1-8th, St. Phillip’s Episcopal School 4th grade, St. James Episcopal School 2nd Grade, Sacred Heart Catholic School Grades 2-5th, Del Rio Homeschool Group and Eagle Pass Homeschool Group.
At least 96 living historians participated this year, including 3B Living History, Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers, Camel Corp, Clifton Fifer, Dennis “Mike” Parker, Drummer Boy Ice Cream, Dutch Oven, Fort Concho, Fort Davis, Fort Griffin, Good Lights Artillery, Lee Haile, Lipan-Apache Band of Texas-Cuelcahen Ndee’, National Park Services, One Room School Teacher, Seminole Indian Scout Cemetery Association, Steve Dial, Texas Parks & Wildlife, Terry Theis, Tiny Town Texas, and Z Lazy T Chuck Wagon. There was also community participation from Border Patrol and the Kinney County Sheriff’s Office.
The 2-day annual event would not be possible without the tremendous commitment of volunteers. This year, over 100 volunteers including the Brackett ISD National Honor Society and Student Council helped with parking, food service and hospitality, logistics, marketing, vendor and programming logistics, emergency operations, fundraising and more. The official Fort Clark Days committee worked tirelessly for months in advance to make sure the event was an enjoyable experience for participating historians, schools, locals and visitors. Committee members are listed on the website at FortClarkDays.com
When asked about the weekend’s highlights, volunteer Brittany Wylie responded, “the Eagle Dance was well attended by guests. Also, Michael Clancey, "The Human Jukebox" was a big hit. It was Michael Clancey’s first time at Fort Clark Days and he's already booked again for next year. Food vendors did well this year with quite a few vendors selling out! Our Arts and Crafts vendors were also pleased with the attendance this year, remarking that attendance was still good even with the high winds on Saturday.”
All in all, it was a great event, made possible by generous sponsors. Initial reports from the committee estimate over $7,000 was raised through parking, sponsorships, vendor spaces, and sales, which will contribute to making next year's event even better, as well as contribute to some exciting projects to promote and preserve the incredible history of Fort Clark for future generations.
