First Friday Art Walk: Local photographer featured at Casa De la Cultura in honor of women’s month

One of Brackettville's own is featured among female visual artists at Casa de la Cultura in honor of Women's month. 

Shanae Simmons has been practicing photography for a number of years, and before motherhood, worked as a sports photographer in Colorado for a white water rafting company. Today, you may recognize this 2005 BISD alumn as the woman running behind and capturing action shots of her twin four year olds around town and Fort Clark Springs. 

She feels honored to showcase cherished images of her children in nature this last weekend, and her work will be up the rest of the month (and are available for purchase). This was Shanae's first opportunity to exhibit her work, and she plans on showing more this year. So be on the lookout next time you are in Del Rio, and check her out at Casa de la Cultura, 302 Cantu St.!

Del Rio Council for the Arts partners with participating galleries to present local artists' work in a variety of mediums every first Friday of the month - FREE of charge. It's a great way to be inspired, get out for an evening, and meet folks while enjoying snacks, drinks and art!
