FCSA PRESERVATION DOLLARS AT WORK
February 26, 2025
Recently, the FCSA Preservation Committee has been overseeing preservation efforts on Dickman Hall. The balcony railing, front railing and metal stairways were pressure washed and painted. Front doors and front windows were painted. Side door was sanded and stained. The vinyl siding at the rear of the building was replaced with lap siding and painted in Fort Gray.
Some broken window panes were replaced, and where needed previous glazing was painted with the appropriate color. Historic buildings need constant attention. There is always something that needs to be done, and dedicated preservation dollars are an important part of FCSA members’ monthly dues.
FCSA’s Preservation Committee (named the Historic Building and Repair Committee in Resolution 2017-03) is charged with monitoring the condition of historic buildings within Fort Clark Historic District owned by FCSA, and to promote maintenance as required to preserve and protect said buildings. Funds for the required maintenance are provide by Fort Clark Springs Association, as provided by the Declaration of Protective Restrictions and by-laws.
Preservation Committee Members include Constance Kilgore, Jack Marsh, Jan Metcalf, Bruce Milano, Sharon Gregorc, Eva Huey, HN Bitter. Tony Hackebeil serves as the FCSA Board Liason. MK Builders was the contractor for the preservation work.
