The Las Moras Creek Master Floodplain Workmap shows an immense project proposed by Kinney County to minimize flooding through town and the fort. Work would start at the south end, in Fort Clark Springs, digging the creek to deepen and widen it and make ponds. The work would proceed to the north through town, involving 12 road crossings. Dirt from the creek would be used to widen and elevate two retention dams located north of town on either side of RR 674.
