Brackett Storage Under New Ownership: Outpost Self Storage and Parking
Outpost Self Storage and Parking owners are excited to join the Brackettville community
The Brackett Storage has changed ownership and is operating under a new name, Outpost Self Storage and Parking, following the completion of its sale on September 25. "We wanted the facility name to reflect the community," said owner Tommy Xaysongham, "Outpost is a good fit to pay homage to the location and military history of the town." Xaysongham, who lives in Conroe, will oversee daily operations with assistance from a local facility manager who is just minutes away. Partner Mike Perkins, of Michigan, brings a background in law enforcement, corrections and security, will primarily work behind the scenes, and assist with security planning. Additional partners including Air Force veteran Scott Speer and Army veteran Shane Chapin. Noting the group's own military background, Xaysongham said, "We appreciate those that have served so we do have a special discount for Veterans, Law Enforcements, and First Responders."
The facility was purchased by Outpost Self Storage and Parking LLC, a partnership whose owners have experience operating storage facilities in multiple states. The Brackettville location is the group's first self storage project in Texas. The facility was previously owned by Brackettville residents Xavier Malave and Fania Corral, who acquired it approximately a year earlier. "They took over the facility about a year ago and have done a great job with it," Xaysongham said. "We want to continue what they have started and improve upon it." Xaysongham said security and accessibility are priorities. The new owners have already installed updated street and building signage and completed brush and vegetation cleanup around the property. Planned improvements include additional security cameras, enhanced lighting, pest and rodent control, and approximately a dozen new boat and RV parking spaces. Work has begun on a limestone gravel parking area behind Kinney County Ranch Supply.
Xaysongham, who grew up in the Houston area, graduated from Texas A&M with a business degree, and spent the majority of his career in IT related to energy software before pivoting to owning self storage facilities. His wife is an elementary school teacher, and the couple has raised two great kids and two "mostly awesome" dogs. He said the owners hope to become active participants in the Brackettville community and plan to join the Chamber of Commerce.
