by Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Homes, Del Rio/Brackettville, Texas

Jose “Joe” Benites of Brackettville, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the age of 62. He was born on June 22, 1964, in Del Rio, Texas, to Florentino and Petra Benites. Joe found happiness in the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, and there was nothing quite like having a fishing rod in his hand, patiently waiting for the next bite.
He had a special love for animals and found great joy in being around them. He had a soft heart and a gentle spirit, offering animals endless affection and care. You would often find goats, chickens, potbellied pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and all types of birds in his backyard or inside the house. One of his favorite places was sitting on his porch, where he could relax, enjoy the fresh air, and appreciate the quiet moments of life. He could also often be found riding his scooter around town. Joe had a collector's spirit and a knack for finding things that caught his interest. Each collection held its own story and memory.
He dedicated many years of hard work to the Texas Department of Transportation and earned his retirement. Joe lived life in his own unique way, finding happiness in the things that brought him joy. His quiet strength, gentle heart, and nurturing spirit touched the lives of those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will always remain in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florentino and Petra Benites; son, Isaac Benites; sisters, Diana Trevino, Dora Villarreal, and Belinda Alonzo; brothers Victoriano, Florentino Jr., and Joel; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are, his wife Beatrice “Bea”; his children, Princess (Joe Hernandez), Christina (Johnny Morton), Mark, Blake, Alexis, Bella, Levi, Eli, and Jose Jr.; grandchildren Jazmin, Nickolas, Anthony, Domanic, Jaylynn, Isaac and Alexander Jose Benites; sister, Maria Alvizo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
