Obituary: Maria De Jesus Esparza • April 12, 1939 – August 15, 2026

Maria De Jesus Esparza, 87, of Brackettville, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

Maria was born on April 12, 1939, in La Victoria, Santo Domingo, San Luis Potosí, to Teresa Guevara Rivera and Bernardino Coronado Colunga, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Esparza of Brackettville, Texas.

Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a woman whose greatest joy came from caring for others. She loved to cook and was always willing to lend a helping hand, prepare a meal, or make sure those around her were cared for. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

Maria had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in caring for her plants. She found joy and peace in watching them grow and flourish.

For several years, Maria worked as a cook at the Fort Clark Springs Country Club restaurant before retiring. Retirement, however, did not last long. After a short time, she found herself missing the opportunity to work and serve others, so she returned to the workforce as a cook at the Sheriff's Office, where she continued working for several more years. Her love of cooking and caring for people was evident throughout her working life.

Above all, Maria was a devoted Catholic. Her faith was at the center of her life, and she had a deep and unwavering dedication to prayer and God. Her faith provided her with strength, comfort, and guidance throughout her life.

Maria is survived by her son, Eduardo Esparza, and daughter-in-law, Allison Sanchez, and her grandson, Benjamin Esparza; her daughter, Maria "Terry" Esparza Breadmore, and son-in-law, Charles Breadmore, and her grandchildren, Patrick Breadmore, Logan Breadmore, and Alexia Breadmore. She is also survived by her sister, Ma Candelaria Coronado Guevara.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Manuel Antonio Coronado Guevara, Régulo Coronado Guevara, Bernardino Coronado Guevara, Gilberto Coronado Guevara, Leolegario Coronado Guevara, Tereso Coronado Guevara, Rogelio Coronado Guevara, María Luisa Coronado Guevara, Ma Victoria Coronado Guevara, Ma Abigail Coronado Guevara, and Ma Leobarda Coronado Guevara.

Maria will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, strong faith, love of family, and the countless ways she cared for others. Her kitchen, her garden, her prayers, and her presence brought warmth and comfort to those fortunate enough to know her.

Though she is now at peace and reunited with her beloved husband and loved ones who went before her, Maria's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.

A Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Brackettville, Tx. Right after will be a Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11:00 A.M Interment to follow at Kinney Cemetery. May she rest in eternal peace.
